Exterior paint is the first thing a buyer or a neighbor sees, and prep work is where cheap painters cut corners. We pulled every painting company Google lists in Auburn Hills, MI, checked which ones actually have an address in town, read their reviews, and went through their websites to build this list.
How we chose this list: Painting companies are sorted by Google rating weighted by review count. Companies based in Auburn Hills come first, and where the city has fewer than five we added the nearest well-reviewed companies and say where they are based. The Exterior Painters is ranked first because it is where we send our own customers; see the disclosure below. This list is updated for 2026.

None of the painting companies on this list are based in Auburn Hills. The closest are Ellison Painting in Rochester, about 4.7 miles away, and Diamond Painting LLC in Rochester Hills, about 5 miles away. The Exterior Painters lists an office in Rochester Hills. ABC Painter is in Lake Orion and Keller Custom Painting is in Waterford Township. All five serve Auburn Hills from those locations.
When is the best time of year to paint a house exterior in Michigan?
Late spring through early fall is usually the best window in Michigan. Most exterior paints need air and surface temperatures above a set minimum, often around 50 degrees, so check the product label. Pick a stretch of dry days, since rain and heavy morning dew can affect how paint cures. Summer gives the most reliable weather, so painters often book up early. Ask your painter when they schedule exterior work.

Yes. In Michigan, painting and decorating on a residential structure is a licensed trade. Contractors need a residential builder or maintenance and alteration license from LARA for jobs over $600. Before you sign a contract, ask the painter for the license number. You can then check it with LARA to confirm it is current.
Does Roofing Army do painting?
No. Roofing Army does roofing only. For painting, we send our own customers to The Exterior Painters, which is run by Brian, the brother of our owner, Aaron. They handle exterior painting, siding and wood replacement. If your project also involves the roof, Roofing Army inspects roofs for free in Auburn Hills.
