Atlas Pinnacle Pristine Majestic Shake21183 Strawberry Hills Drive, Macomb

This job came in through a referral from Rob, an exterior painting contractor who was already on site at the property doing painting and gutter work. He connected the homeowner with Roofing Army, and after the inspection it was clear a full replacement was the right call. The existing shingles weren't falling apart, but they were at the end of their useful life. Getting ahead of it now means the next owners of this home won't be dealing with a failing roof for another 25 to 30 years. The property sits on Strawberry Hills Drive in Macomb, not far from Hall Road and the surrounding subdivisions off Card Road in Macomb Township. It's a ranch-style home, which means a lower, wider footprint, and this one came in at 38 squares on the steeper sections and 9 squares on the lower-pitched areas, totaling 47 squares of roof surface.

Before any new material went down, we did a complete tear-off down to the deck. The decking came back in solid shape with no OSB replacement needed, so we moved straight into the waterproofing stage. Six feet of ice and water shield went in at every eave, which is the standard for Michigan winters where ice dams are a real concern. Ice and water also wrapped around all penetrations, valleys, and wall transitions. Over that, Summit 60 synthetic underlayment ran from the eaves up to the ridge, fastened with plastic cap nails per Atlas specs. That's your primary moisture barrier across the field of the roof.

Drip edge went on all edges, 32 pieces total, giving every perimeter a clean termination point and directing runoff away from the fascia. Starter shingles went in at the eaves and rakes before the field shingles, which is how you get proper edge sealing instead of just butting a full shingle up to the edge. The main shingle is the Atlas Pinnacle Pristine in Majestic Shake, 127 bundles covering the field. Hip and ridge caps are Atlas Pro-Cut, 11 bundles, which matches the Pinnacle Pristine system. This roof also has two Velux C04 skylights, and both received new Velux flashing kits so the skylight-to-roof transitions are properly sealed. Two vent pipes got new pipe boots and pipe boot covers. Wall flashing was installed at the two locations where the roof meets a vertical wall, and step flashing was used along those transitions as well.

We checked the bathroom exhaust fans. Any fans that were venting into the attic space got rerouted to dedicated bathroom roof vents with insulated ducting so that moisture-laden air exits the building entirely instead of dumping into the attic.

Macomb Township roof replacements on ranch homes like this one have a few things in common: wide attic spans, lower pitches on additions or garage sections, and ventilation that often wasn't designed to handle the full square footage. This job addressed all of that.

When the crew wrapped up, a full magnetic nail sweep was done across the property to pick up any fasteners that came off during tear-off. We walked through the finished job with the homeowner before leaving. The project price was $22,248, which covered all permits, materials, labor, and debris removal with no add-ons after the fact. The Atlas Pinnacle Pristine in Majestic Shake is a good-looking shingle on a ranch profile, and with the ventilation and waterproofing work done right underneath it, this roof is set up to perform for decades.
