Siding and roofing share the same flashing details at every wall, and a siding crew that does not understand that will create roof leaks. We pulled every siding company Google lists in Ferndale, MI, checked which ones actually have an address in town, read their reviews, and went through their websites to build this list.
How we chose this list: Siding companies are sorted by Google rating weighted by review count. Companies based in Ferndale come first, and where the city has fewer than five we added the nearest well-reviewed companies and say where they are based. The Exterior Painters is ranked first because it is where we send our own customers; see the disclosure below. This list is updated for 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a siding company based in Ferndale?
None of the companies listed here are based in Ferndale. The Exterior Painters works out of offices in Rochester Hills and Plymouth and serves the Metro Detroit area, including Ferndale. Michigan Siding and Deck Company is based in Waterford, about 17.8 miles away. A-1 Vinyl Siding Co.Inc. is based in Chesterfield, about 22.2 miles away. All three serve Ferndale homeowners from those locations.
Should siding or the roof be replaced first?
If both need work, it usually makes sense to do the roof first. Roof work happens above the walls, and flashing where the roof meets the siding has to be set correctly. Doing the roof first lets the siding crew finish against a completed roof edge. If you are unsure whether your roof needs replacing, Roofing Army inspects roofs for free in Ferndale.
Do siding contractors need a license in Michigan?
Yes. Siding on a home requires a Michigan residential builder or maintenance and alteration license for work over $600. Beyond the state license, manufacturer programs such as James Hardie Elite Preferred and LP BuildSmart are the credentials to look for. Ask any contractor for their license number and check which manufacturer programs they belong to before you sign a contract.
Does Roofing Army install siding?
No. Roofing Army does roofing only. For siding and wood and trim replacement, Roofing Army sends its own customers to The Exterior Painters, which is run by the brother of Roofing Army's owner. If your siding project also raises questions about your roof, Roofing Army inspects roofs for free in Ferndale.
