- ISA Certified Arborist on staff, where stated.
- Proof of liability and workers' compensation insurance, which matters more in tree work than in almost any other trade.

- Storm and emergency removal availability.
- Website review for services offered, years in business and any licenses or credentials the company publishes.
Licensing in Michigan: Michigan does not license tree services. Insurance is the credential that matters: ask for a certificate of liability and workers' compensation before anyone climbs. ISA Certified Arborist is the voluntary credential worth looking for.
Disclosure: Roofing Army is a roofing company. We do not do this kind of work, we have no business relationship with the companies above, and nobody paid to be listed. We built this list because our customers in Lake Orion ask us who to call. Verify licenses and get more than one quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a tree service based in Lake Orion?
Yes. Turman's Tree & Landscape is based in Lake Orion and offers trimming, stump grinding, lot clearing and 24/7 storm damage help. Two other companies on this list, Timber Beast Tree Service and Father & Son Tree Services, are in Oxford, just over the line from Lake Orion, and both serve Lake Orion. Budget Tree Service, Inc. in Washington and K N K Tree Service, LLC in Goodrich also serve the area from a bit farther out.
Should I trim trees before a roof replacement in Lake Orion?
Yes, it usually makes sense. Overhanging limbs scrape shingles, drop debris into valleys and gutters, and shade roofs so they stay wet. Roofing Army recommends trimming anything within ten feet of the roof. Doing the tree work first also keeps falling branches away from a new roof, and it gives the roofing crew clear access. Schedule the trimming a few weeks ahead so the debris is cleared before the roofers arrive.
Does homeowners insurance cover tree removal in Michigan?
It depends on your policy and on what the tree hits. Many homeowners policies help pay to remove a tree that falls on a covered structure, such as your house or garage, often up to a set limit. Removing a healthy or dead tree that has not fallen is usually treated as maintenance and is not covered. Call your insurer before work starts, and keep photos and the tree service's invoice.
Does Roofing Army remove trees?
No. Roofing Army does roofing only and does not remove or trim trees. For tree work, contact one of the tree services listed above. Roofing Army does inspect roofs for free in Lake Orion, which is a good step after a storm drops limbs on your house or once the trees near your roof have been trimmed back.
